About Us
The TITANS Marching Band drumline started from humble beginnings, in early January, 2005. At that time,
it was made up of only percussionists from Springfield Secondary School,
instead of having members from both sides of the Titans Marching Band.
It was more of a result of a seemingly childish impulse than a carefully planned and ingeniously choreographed attempt.
Nonetheless, it was surprisingly successful, and this had by then become one of the most respected sectors of the Titans Marching Band.
The term 'Drumline', to members of the Titans Marching Band, was once scorned, feared of its powerful influence.
But once that influence was harnessed, its magic spread throughout our souls with ultimate pride and authority.
This year's Balloon Hat Festival sees much more action, with World Music Projects (WMP) playing a part in the organization of the event in Sentosa. Though this year's parade route was cut by half, from 1.6 kilometers in 2005 to just about 800 meters, it was no less tiring. Because all of that energy saved from marching was used in a massive array of dancing, grooving and impressive choreography by over 20 bands which performed on that day, including the renowned Titans Marching Band. This year was special for the Band, as it would mark the end of the Titans name and both schools would go their separate ways in musicianship and marching, as decided by the principals of both schools. So, why not end it off with a blast?
Dressed to impress and coupled with the immensely powerful and disciplined percussionists, the band was able to deliver awe-inspiring music even while showing off with choreography thought up by the band's own student committee. As the band marched down Palawan Beach, the crowd cheered. I dare say that the Titans Marching Band won the most love from the audience than any other band on that day. In the end, music to their ears after an intense moment of anticipation, the Titans Marching Band won the Best Choreography Prize in one of two competitions as part of the Balloon Hat Festival, with a cash reward of 1000 Singapore Dollars. But that wasn't all. With all the marching and choreographing experience earned from participation in this year's 2006 Singapore Youth Festival, the Drumline was able to deliver their performance with the accompaniment of a group of band members, forming the 'Fight Club'.
Any performance by the Titans Marching Band would certainly not be complete without a performance by the Drumline, and that day was definitely no different. After practicing for weeks, adding in various gimmicks like icing on a cake, the Drumline was ready to perform to end off the Balloon Hat Festival, El Grande!
As the Drumline filled the air with their exciting rhythms and impressed the crowd with a myriad of formations and provocative stick tricks and gimmicks, the crowd stood in awe, photographers skipping through the crowd to get the best pics for themselves to take home and remember.
And it all ended with the great Fight Club dance. The Drumline eased up, their minds a blank, their hearts filled with satisfaction and pride. The crowd continued to cheer.
Once again, the Drumline made history.

Balloon Hat Festival 2005
Under the blinding hot sun, surrounded by a fierce crowd of both mainland Singaporeans and hopeful tourists, not to mention the countless beautiful ladies scattered across the beach taking a break from their sun-tanning and coming to the sides of the Balloon Hat Festival Parade route to cheer the bands on, the Titans Marching Band does what they do best, look smart, intimidate, and of course, entertain! But that's not the main focus this time. It's what comes after the parade ends that draws the crowd closer, and provides eye candy for the many photographers around.
You guessed it; the Titans Marching Band Drumline!
Comprising members from percussion sections of both schools, the Drumline formed up on the sandy beach to deliver their performance. Loaded up and psyched to the fullest, they blast off with one of their best performances yet. Though tired, worn and weary after marching on close to one kilometer of fine sandy beach, the Drumline still performs up to their best of their ability and fullest potential. Yet another successful day passes by, and now the people of Singapore remember the boys and girls clad in red, white and blue armed with drums and cymbals as heroes of percussionists all over the island.

Ping Yi Secondary School Sports Day
Now, percussionists from both schools had teamed up in the drumline for their performance at Bedok Stadium, the venue for Ping Yi Secondary School's annual Sports Day. Contrary to the drumline's first function as a form of publicity for the Titans Marching Band, the drumline was then performing as an encouragement boost for Sports Day participants, as well as entertainment for the school's tired, perspiring spectators. Once again, the drumline was a great success, earning standing ovations from the crowd massed up in the stadium seats. It was a short, yet greatly inspiring performance for both drumline members and students of the school. Respect earned, confidence gained, a stepping stone in drumline history.

Secondary One Orientation
A great crowd gathers around the band as the drumline takes its position at the front end. A moment of silence, a deep breath, then before you know it, drums are roaring loud and proud, cymbals crash with crisp accuracy and heavy metal intensity. Bar by bar the drummers breeze past, and every second brings greater excitement to both drumline and audience. As the final beat is played, the drumline falls silent. The crowd roars in epic cheer.
We turn back and our band behind us brings unto us emotions we cannot begin to comprehend.
This is where it all began.
